Privacy Policy

Stryde is a training app for running, strength, hyrox, and swimming, operated by Stryde Training. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, where it lives, and the choices you have — written in plain language rather than dense legal boilerplate wherever possible.

Data We Collect

Account & profile: the details you enter during onboarding and in Settings — age, sex, height, weight, training goals, primary discipline(s), and equipment access.

Training data: the workouts, plans, and benchmarks Stryde generates or that you log — completed sessions, personal records (PRs), VDOT / fitness-level estimates, and race or goal details.

Readiness & health metrics: when you choose to track them — resting heart rate, heart-rate variability (HRV), sleep, VO2 max, body weight, and blood pressure. These feed the app’s readiness score and plan adaptation. None of them are required to use Stryde.

Integrations

Stryde can optionally connect to third-party fitness and health services — such as Garmin Connect, Strava, and the other services listed in Settings → Connections — so it can read your training and health data automatically. Data only flows from a service after you explicitly connect it, and you can disconnect at any time from the same screen. The set of available services can change, so Settings → Connections — not this policy — is the authoritative, up-to-date list.

Apple Health is the exception, and works the other way round: when you connect it, Stryde writes your planned workouts to Apple Health so they appear alongside the rest of your activity. It does not read your health data — not your activity, not your energy, and nothing you log in another app.

Calendar sync is a separate integration: when you turn it on (Settings → Connections → Calendar), Stryde writes your planned and completed workouts to your device’s calendar. It only writes events to your calendar — it does not read your existing calendar entries.

Nutrition & Food Logging

If you use Stryde’s nutrition features, the app stores what you log — foods, portions, meals, and the daily totals derived from them — along with the body details used to work out your fuelling, and any targets the app calculates.

If you use Stryde’s nutrition features and want calorie or weight targets, the app first asks a short set of health questions, including your date of birth and whether certain conditions apply to you. Your answers are health data, which UK data protection law treats as a special category, and Stryde processes them only on your explicit consent and only to decide whether setting targets is appropriate for you. You can decline to answer them and still use the fuelling guidance and the food diary in full.

If you use Stryde’s nutrition features, the app keeps a record of these decisions — what was asked, what state your account moved to, and when — so it can explain why it is behaving the way it is, and so a decision can be corrected. That record is deleted along with your account.

If you use Stryde’s nutrition features, food search runs against a database stored on your device. Barcodes you scan and terms you type are matched locally; nothing about a search leaves your device unless the app has to look up a product it does not already hold, and it tells you when that happens.

Where Your Data Lives

Your training data is stored primarily on your device, in a local SQLite database. Stryde does not require an internet connection to view your plan or log a workout.

If you turn on Cloud sync (Settings → Cloud sync), your own data is also stored in Stryde’s cloud backend so it can follow you across devices and survive a reinstall. Cloud sync is optional and off unless you enable it.

How We Use Your Data

We use the data above to generate and adapt your training plan, calculate readiness and fitness estimates, and let you review your own training history. Stryde is a training tool, not a medical device — readiness and health metrics are used for training-load decisions only, never for diagnosis or treatment. See the Terms of Service for more on this.

We Do Not Sell Your Data

Stryde does not sell your personal data to third parties and does not share it with advertisers. Anonymous usage analytics — which screens are used, never what’s in them — is opt-in and can be turned off at any time from Settings → Privacy & data.

Your food diary is not analytics. Nothing you log — a food name, a search you typed, a barcode you scanned, or the totals for a day — is sent anywhere for product measurement. It leaves your device only through Cloud sync, if you turn that on, and through your own export.

Your Rights

Export: Settings → Privacy & data → "Export training data" downloads your plans and workout history as a JSON file you control — and, if you use the nutrition features, your food diary, daily totals, targets, saved meals and the record of the health questions you answered.

Delete or clear: Settings → Privacy & data → "Clear local data" wipes plans, workouts, and PRs from this device. Settings → "Delete account" permanently deletes your account and all associated data, including anything stored via Cloud sync — this cannot be undone.

Retention: local data lives on your device until you clear it or uninstall the app. Cloud-synced data is retained until you delete it or your account, subject to a routine backup-purge window of up to 30 days.

A food entry you delete is kept for 30 days so you can undo it, then permanently erased from this device and from Cloud sync.

Children's Privacy

Stryde is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 13 (or 16, where a stricter local minimum age applies). We do not knowingly collect data from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Stryde does not set calorie or weight targets for anyone under 18. If your date of birth shows you are under 18, the targets half of the nutrition feature is unavailable and becomes available on your eighteenth birthday; session fuelling and food logging are not restricted.

Food Data Sources

Stryde’s food database is built from open data. Branded products come from Open Food Facts, made available under the Open Database License (ODbL) v1.0. Generic UK foods come from the Composition of Foods Integrated Dataset (CoFID), published under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Some values come from USDA FoodData Central, which is in the public domain (CC0 1.0). Every food you log records which of these it came from, and your data export lists them.

Sources and terms, in full: Open Food Facts — ODbL 1.0 (https://opendatacommons.org/licenses/odbl/1-0/); McCance and Widdowson’s The Composition of Foods (CoFID), OHID — OGL v3 (https://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/doc/open-government-licence/version/3/); USDA FoodData Central — CC0 1.0 (https://creativecommons.org/publicdomain/zero/1.0/); Stryde curated sports nutrition — Stryde (https://strydetraining.fit/legal/food-data).

Stryde’s food database is derived from Open Food Facts, so the Open Food Facts data in it — and the Stryde database built from that data — is offered to you under the same licence Stryde received it under, ODbL 1.0 (https://opendatacommons.org/licenses/odbl/1-0/). That extract will be available at https://corpus.stryde.app/corpus/odbl/stryde-uk-food-extract.csv.gz. It is not live at that address yet — until it is, email support@stryde.app and we will send you a copy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Last updated" date; continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
